 Council Meeting

On Tuesday, December 13th, 2011 at St. Mary & St. Athanasius Coptic Orthodox Church, Northridge, His Grace Anba Serapion, Bishop of the Coptic Diocese of Los Angeles hosted the regular Oriental Orthodox Churches Council Meeting.

The attendees were: His Eminence Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan, of the Syriac Orthodox Church, His grace Bishop Serapion of the Coptic Orthodox Church, and His Eminence Moushegh Mardirosian of the Armenian Church. Upon their arrival, the bishops and accompany clergy proceeded to the church and thanked God by offering short prayers in each of their own languages.

The meeting was opened with prayer followed by a discussion on the mutual matters which were listed on the agenda, and the activities of the three unified churches, in particular the Youth Committee which decided to be formed by clergy and youth representatives of three dioceses, and Sunday School program which was held successfully on Saturday November 19, 2011, taken care of by Mrs. Patricia Allaf. The prelates were thankful and pleased of her efforts in this regards.

New business that was added to the agenda was the joint statement that issued by the three heads of the Syriac, Coptic, and Armenian churches in their joint meeting in Cairo, Egypt, and the Christians situation of the Middle East, especially in its last stage in Egypt.

The next OOCC meeting will be held at St. Leon Armenian Orthodox Church, Burbank, on Tuesday March 27, 2012

إجتماع مطارنة الكنائس الشرقية الأرثوذكسية

عُقِدَ ظهر الثلاثاء 13 كانون الأول 2011 في كنيسة السيدة العذراء والقديس أثناسيوس الاجتماع الدوري الأخير لعام 2011 لمطارنة الكنائس الشرقية الأرثوذكسية.  وحضره أصحاب النيافة مار إقليميس أوجين عن الكنيسة السريانية الأرثوذكسية، الأنبا سرابيون عن الكنيسة القبطية والمطران موشيغ ماردروسيان عن الكنيسة الارمنية، ورافق نيافة المطران أوجين الخوري عبدالاحد شارا، كما وحضر عددٌ من الآباء كهنة الكنيستَين القبطية والارمنية. وتوجه السادة المطارنة مع الآباء الكهنة الى الكنيسة حيث رفعوا صلوات الشكر للرب باللغات الثلاثة الارمنية والسريانية والقبطية.

بعدها التقى الاحبار مع كهنتهم في قاعة الاجتماعات حيث رفع الأنبا سرابيون صلاة دعوة الروح القدس ليرشد الجميع لما فيه خير ومجد الكنيسة. ثم بحث الحاضرون بنود جدول الأعمال كما جاءت  بالتسلسل، حيث تداول الحاضرون بموضوعَي الشبيبة والمدارس الأحدية، وتقرر أن تكون لجنة للشبيبة مكونة من كهنة وممثلين عن شبيبة كل من الأبرشيات الثلاثة، كما وتطرق الآباء عن نشاطات المدرسة الاحدية وخاصة النشاط الاخير الذي إستضافته كاتدرائية مار أفرام وكان في قمة النجاح بسعي وتدبير وتنظيم معلمي المدارس الأحدية وبإرشاد وتوعية المسؤولة العامة السيدة باتريشيا علاف حيث أفاض الأحبار والكهنة المتواجدين في الاجتماع بما قدمته وتقدمه هذه السيدة الفاضلة لجيل الغد تربويا واجتماعيا، وصلوا لحفظها مع زوجها وأولادها بالخير والسلامة.

وأخيراً قدَّم المطران سرابيون تقريراً عن الاجتماع المسكوني للكنائس الأرثوذكسية (السريانية، القبطية والارمنية) حيث تمثلت هذه الكنائس ببطاركتها الذين عقدوا سلسلة إجتماعات بحثوا فيها أمور الكنيسة الجامعة والصعوبات الأمنية التي يتعرض لها المسيحيون في الشرق وبخاصةٍ في مصر وأصدروا بياناً مشتركاً.

وتقرر أن يكون الإجتماع القادم في كنيسة القديس ليون الارمنية في بربانك بتاريخ 27 آذار 2012

The Western Archdiocese of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch, providing spiritual guidance and leadership to the Syriac Orthodox community, is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization comprised of 10 churches and parishes in 17 western states. It was established in 1952 as the Archdiocese of the Syrian Orthodox Church encompassing the entire United States and Canada. In November 1995 by the Holy Synod, the Western Archdiocese was formed to exclusively serve the 17 states of the western half United States.
