His Eminence Mor Gabriel Dahho has departed to the eternal abodes of light.

Died: July 21, 2022, Jerusalem

The Archdiocese of the Western USA received from His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of Antioch, informing the Archbishop Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan that the thrice blessed Archbishop Mor Gabriel Dahho, Patriarchal Vicar of Jerusalem, Jordan, and the Holy Lands, passed away in Jerusalem, on Thursday, July 21, 2022.

Details of the funeral service will be given later.
The thrice blessed was born in Qameshly – Syria in 1970. He joined Mor Aphrem Theological in 1984. He was tonsured as a monk in 1991. In 1996, the Thrice Blessed Patriarch Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas ordained him as a priest. He served in Aleppo, Egypt, and Brazil until 2016.
He was appointed as Director of Mor Aphrem Seminary in Maarat Saydnaya in 2017, then Patriarchal Vicar in Jerusalem, Jordan, and the Holy Lands.

On 10/04/2019, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II ordained him as Archbishop, Patriarchal Vicar in Jerusalem, Jordan, and the Holy Lands.

His Eminence Archbishop Clemis Eugene Kaplan, the clergy and faithful of the Western Archdiocese, offer their heartfelt condolences to His Holiness Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, their Eminences prelates of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch, and especially the Reverend Clergy of the Archdiocese of Jerusalem Jordan and Holy Land, as well as his family members, and relatives.

May God rest his spirit in peace with those who fulfilled His will on earth, and his memory be eternal, Amen.

The Western Archdiocese of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch, providing spiritual guidance and leadership to the Syriac Orthodox community, is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization comprised of 18 churches and parishes in 17 western states. It was established in 1952 as the Archdiocese of the Syrian Orthodox Church encompassing the entire United States and Canada. In November 1995 by the Holy Synod, the Western Archdiocese was formed to exclusively serve the 17 states of the western half United States.
