Apostolic visit of His Holiness Moran
Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas
to
India
On September 20th, 2004 His Holiness Mor Ignatius Zakka Iwas paid Apostolic visit to our Church in India. During his visit, HH met our Indian Holy Synod members of the Syriac Orthodox Church, and consecrated the Church head quarters at Puthencuriz, and also consecrated Holy Chrism (Moroon).
This was the 3rd official Apostolic visit of HH Mor Ignatius Zakka Iwas to our Syriac Orthodox Church in India. The visit of H.H. caused for the development of the Church in India and resulted in its prosperity and blessing. "From the time of arrival to the departure of His Holiness from airport to airport, the rain retreated. Wherever Jesus arrived people gathered in large number to touch Him or to touch His garments, the same was the experience we saw here wherever His Holiness visited. All traditional Churches in Kerala took part in the Jubilee Celebration except the Orthodox fraction... His Holiness was accepted everywhere as Government guest. Holy Father visited and blessed the president of India, the prime minister, the congress president and the opposition leader. The chief minister of Kerala visited His Holiness in Kerala and also in Delhi and sought the blessing of the Holy Father." (Letter of His Beatitude)
