The second periodic meeting of the priests of the Archdiocese of the Western USA local churches.

The second meeting of the Western Archdiocese was scheduled for February 20, 2024. Priests of the local churches are met at the meeting room hosted by St. Ephraim Cathedral in Burbank.

After reading the eleventh chapter of the Gospel of Luke, His Eminence Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan opened the meeting as usual, which was held in the meeting room of the cathedral, with a special prayer, welcoming the Reve. Fathers, congratulate them on the advent of the Nineveh Fast, hoping it will bring blessing and goodness to all churches and good luck to all believers, urging them to persevere in what they offer. From sacrifices and perseverance in guidance and education in all ecclesiastical and social fields.

The Rev. Fathers continued to discuss the topics on the agenda as His Eminence motioned for Rev. Fr. Zmargdos Hanna to read the questions and proposals sent by him and other priests for this meeting.

The questions were about current time events, and here are some of them: How to prepare to receive the Holy Eucharist and the meaning of some of the movements that the priests make during the Mass, how and when believers receive the body and blood of the Lord, and the method of reciting the prayer of confession, the use of hymns outside the Syriac Orthodox church rite that are sung during the Divine Liturgy, or on church occasions, some of which may contain texts that contradict the faith and doctrine of the church, how to deal with a gay/lesbian believer if he/she is found in the church and wants to receive Holy Communion... and other questions that were studied and agreed upon in light of the Word of the Lord and the Constitution of the Church.

The suggestion was proposed to create a digital room for priests' meetings so that priests who cannot attend in person can participate in the meetings through the digital network.

The other topics on the agenda were discussed in detail and included in the crucible of the church's successes. His Eminence was pleased with the opinions and constructive suggestions offered by the Rev. Fathers regarding the discussion and about their churches, especially about the presence of believers and their enthusiasm to receive the Holy Eucharist, which indicates the great spirituality believers enjoy.

His Eminence blessed the attended priests, encouraging them with his sincere fatherly words to make sacrifices through preaching, guidance, awareness, and wise spiritual leadership. While strengthening the sense of unity and purpose, the priests prepare to continue their influential work in serving the believers and their communities.
The priests congratulated their brother, Rev. Fr. Yousef Kallo, in advance because he will be promoted to prime priest (Khouroyo) on March 9. On this occasion, Rev. Fr. Toma (Fady) Butto congratulated Fr. Youssef and presented him with a cross in the name of his church, St. Thomas the Apostle, in San Jose.

الإجتماع الثاني لكهنة الكنائس المحلية في عام 2024
في ثان إجتماعات كهنة الكنائس المحلية لأبرشية الولايات الغربية من الولايات المتحدة الأميركية لسنة 2024، وتحت رعاية صاحب النيافة المطران مار إقليميس أوجين قبلان وبحضور الآباء كهنة الكنائس المحلية وباستضافة كاتدرائية مار أفرام لهذا اللقاء المبارك، عُقد هذا الإجتماع ظهيرة الثلاثاء المصادف 20 شباط. وكان كاهن الكاتدرائية قد وجه الكترونياً لكافة كهنة الكنائس المحلية للأبرشية جدول الأعمال مرفقاً بمحضر أول إجتماع لهذا العام لمراجعته وإبداء الملاحظات اللازمة وإرسال مقترحاتهم وأسئلتهم لتناقش في الاجتماع.

بعد قراءة الاصحاح الحادي عشر من انجيل لوقا، إفتتح نيافته الإجتماع كعادته، والذي تمَّ عقده في قاعة الإجتماعات في الكاتدرائية، بصلاةٍ خاصة مرحِّباً بالآباء الكهنة مهنئاً إيّاهم بقدوم صوم نينوى آملاً أن يكون سبب بركة وخير لكافة الكنائس وبالتوفيق لجميع المؤمنين حاثاً إيّاهم بالمواظبة على ما يقدموه من تضحياتٍ والمثابرة على الإرشاد والتعليم في كل الحقول الكنسية والاجتماعية.

تابع الآباء بحث المواضيع المدرجة في جدول الأعمال حيث أومأ نيافته لحضرة الأب الفاضل زمرجدوس حنا قراءة الأسئلة والمقترحات المرسلة من قبله وغيره من الكهنة لهذا الاجتماع.

كانت الأسئلة تدور حول الوقت الراهن وإليك بعضها: كيفية الاستعداد لتناول القربان المقدس ومعنى بعض حركات التي يقوم بها الكهن أثناء القداس، كيف ومتى يتناول المؤمنون جسد الرب ودمه، وطريقة تلاوة صلاة الاعتراف، استخدام ترانيم خارج الطقس الكنسي السرياني والتي ترنم أثناء القداس الإلهي، أو في المناسبات الكنسية، وقد تحتوي منها على نصوص مخالفة لإيمان وعقيدة الكنيسة، كيفية التعامل مع مؤمن شاذ إن وجد في الكنيسة وأراد التناول... وغيرها من الأسئلة التي درست واتفق عليها في ضوء كلمة الرب ودستور الكنيسة.

وقد اقترح عمل غرفة رقمية لاجتماعات الكهنة ليتسنى للكهنة الذين لا يستطيعون الحضور شخصياً الاشتراك بالاجتماعات من خلال الشبكة المعلوماتية.

وكانت المواضيع الأخرى في جدول الأعمال قد بُحِثَت تفصيلياً وكلها تدرج في بوتقة نجاحات الكنيسة. وسُرَّ نيافته بما قدمه الآباء الكهنة من آراء واقتراحات بنّاءة حول النقاش وعن كنائسهم وبخاصة عن حضور المؤمنين واندفاعهم لتناول القربان المقدس مما يدل على الروحانية الكبيرة التي يتمتع بها المؤمنون. وبارك نيافته الكهنة مشجعاً إياهم بكلماته الأبوية الصادقة على تقديم التضحيات بالوعظ والإرشاد والتوعية والقيادة الروحية الحكيمة، ومع تعزيز الشعور بالوحدة والهدف، يستعد الكهنة لمواصلة عملهم المؤثر في خدمة المؤمنين ومجتمعاتهم.

وقد هنأ الكهنة أخاهم الأب الفاضل يوسف كلّو مسبقاً لأنه سيترقّى الى درجة الخورنة في التاسع من آذار المقبل. وفي هذه المناسبة هنأ الأب توما (فادي) بطو الأب يوسف وأهداه صليباً باسم كنيسته مار توما الرسول في سان خوزي.
