Rev. Fr. Tony Yacoub Visits Archdiocese Headquarters in Preparation for New Pastoral RoleSeptember,14 2024In a momentous step for the Um Alzunar congregation in Ventura, the newly appointed priest, Rev. Fr. Tony Yacoub, paid a significant visit to the Archdiocese's headquarters at St. Ephraim Cathedral in Burbank. On this occasion, Fr. Tony was warmly received by His Eminence, Mor Clemis Eugene, Archbishop of the Western Archdiocese, marking the beginning of his pastoral journey.
Accompanied by two esteemed parish council members, Fr. Tony’s visit underscored his congregation's strong support and enthusiasm as they prepared to welcome his leadership at the Um Alzunar Church, dedicated to the Virgin Mary of the Holy Belt. The parish council’s presence highlighted the unity and commitment of the faithful in embracing their new spiritual leader.
The gathering was further honored by the attendance of two distinguished clergymen, Very Rev. Fr. Saliba Kassis and Rev. Fr. Gabriel, who came to show their support and solidarity for Rev. Fr. Tony as he embarks on this new service chapter. Their presence symbolized the spirit of collaboration and brotherhood among the Church’s leadership as they welcomed Fr. Tony into his role.
Rev. Fr. Tony Yacoub’s new mission at the Um Alzunar Church is expected to continue the congregation's rich tradition of spiritual guidance and service. His meeting with Archbishop Mor Clemis Eugene sets a promising tone for his ministry, as he aims to nurture the faith and well-being of the parishioners under his care.

Rev. Fr. Tony Yacoub will officially be installed as priest of Um Alzunar, Virgin Mary of the Holy Belt, on Tuesday, September 24, at St. Ephraim Cathedral in Burbank.

The Western Archdiocese of the Syriac Orthodox Church of Antioch,
providing spiritual guidance and leadership to the Syriac Orthodox
community, is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization
comprised of 18 churches and parishes in 17 western states. It was
established in 1952 as the Archdiocese of the Syrian Orthodox Church
encompassing the entire United States and Canada. In November 1995 by
the Holy Synod, the Western Archdiocese was formed to exclusively
serve the 17 states of the western half United States.
